Aryna Sabalenka celebrating a point
The Belarusian player finished the year with an notable twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of Dominance

Across the season, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She received almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".
