Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the manufacturers of acetaminophen, asserting the corporations concealed safety concerns that the pain reliever created to children's brain development.

The lawsuit follows four weeks after President Donald Trump advocated an unsubstantiated connection between consuming acetaminophen - also known as paracetamol - during pregnancy and autism spectrum disorder in offspring.

Paxton is taking legal action against the pharmaceutical giant, which previously sold the medication, the sole analgesic recommended for women during pregnancy, and the current manufacturer, which presently makes it.

In a statement, he stated they "misled consumers by gaining financially from suffering and pushing pills ignoring the dangers."

Kenvue states there is no credible evidence tying Tylenol to autism.

"These companies misled for generations, deliberately risking countless individuals to line their pockets," the attorney general, from the Republican party, declared.

Kenvue said in a statement that it was "deeply concerned by the dissemination of inaccurate information on the security of paracetamol and the likely effects that could have on the welfare of US mothers and children."

On its online platform, Kenvue also stated it had "continuously evaluated the pertinent research and there is insufficient valid information that shows a proven link between taking acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder."

Associations speaking for medical professionals and healthcare providers concur.

The leading OB-GYN organization has stated acetaminophen - the main ingredient in Tylenol - is a restricted selection for pregnant women to treat discomfort and elevated temperature, which can pose significant medical dangers if ignored.

"In more than two decades of studies on the utilization of paracetamol in pregnancy, zero credible investigations has successfully concluded that the usage of paracetamol in any stage of pregnancy leads to brain development issues in children," the organization said.

The court filing cites latest statements from the former administration in asserting the drug is allegedly unsafe.

Recently, the former president generated worry from public health officials when he instructed women during pregnancy to "struggle intensely" not to use Tylenol when ill.

Federal regulators then published an announcement that medical professionals should consider limiting the consumption of Tylenol, while also mentioning that "a proven link" between the medication and autism spectrum disorder in minors has not been proven.

Health Secretary RFK Jr, who supervises the FDA, had pledged in spring to conduct "extensive scientific investigation" that would identify the source of autism in a limited time.

But authorities advised that identifying a unique factor of autism - considered by experts to be the consequence of a complicated interplay of inherited and external influences - would be difficult.

Autism spectrum disorder is a form of lifelong neurodivergence and condition that influences how people encounter and interact with the environment, and is diagnosed using physician assessments.

In his court filing, the attorney general - who supports Trump who is seeking US Senate - asserts Kenvue and J&J "intentionally overlooked and attempted to silence the science" around acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder.

The lawsuit seeks to make the corporations "eliminate any promotional materials" that claims acetaminophen is safe for pregnant women.

This legal action mirrors the complaints of a group of mothers and fathers of young ones with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD who took legal action against the makers of acetaminophen in recently.

Judicial authorities dismissed the lawsuit, stating research from the family's specialists was not conclusive.
