Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”

This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans offered its support for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
